About the Seminar

The Learning Objectives: As a participant in this Training-of-Facilitators (ToF) seminar, you will increase your ability to do the following:

Together we will augment and amend these goals in response to the learning agendas you and the other participants bring to the seminar. The final design of this program will be tailored to the experience level and developmental need of those who register.

Who Should Attend: This program is specifically for first-time ToFers and Associate Facilitators still in training. As this is designed with attention to ToF basics, it will not generally be open to participation by Senior Facilitators (unless by special request, because of a developmental benchmark interest).

The Schedule: The Training-of-Facilitators Seminar is comprised of two simultaneous and interactive components: 1) a PL Foundations seminar, in which you will be a full participant, and 2) ToF-specific sessions held before, during, and after the Foundations seminar. The ToF sessions will:

Logistics

Dates/Times: The seminar begins Friday, May 18, 2012 at 6:30pm (opening reception) and ends Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 9pm (closing dinner). (7 days)

Fees:

Meals: With the exception of the opening reception and closing dinner, you will be on your own for all meals. Downtown Portland has a vibrant food truck scene as well as excellent restaurants and nearby groceries. Before the seminar begins, you will be given the option of ordering and pre-paying for a catered lunch to be brought to you on one or more of the seminar days.

Lodging: Rooms have been reserved at the Mark Spencer Hotel in downtown Portland, where the seminar is being held. All rooms have simple kitchen facilities. You are responsible for booking your own hotel; we are available to facilitate room-mate matching for those who prefer double occupancy rates.

Travel Considerations: Portland offers an international airport with excellent public transportation to downtown. The Mark Spencer Hotel offers a parking garage for guests at an additional fee.

Location: Portland, Oregon – Approaching Portland from the air, you can’t help but notice the abundance of green. Portland is often awardedPortland Skyline the "Greenest City in America", and ranks among the world's top 10 greenest cities.

But, Portland isn’t only green on the surface. City planners are committed to preserving natural wonders that ring the metropolitan area. The benefits of Portland’s passion for all things green take many forms: one of the world’s best culinary scenes, bursting with fresh, locally grown ingredients; verdant parks and gardens in the city, and majestic mountains, rivers and wilderness all around; clean, accessible public transport; and ample trails for hiking and cycling.

Portlanders are proud of Portland's parks and its legacy of preserving open spaces. Mount Tabor Park is known for its scenic views and historic reservoirs. Food cart pods spread throughout the city appear frequently on television programs. The city has also become known as a premier coffee destination. The city has bcome known as a premier coffee destination with dozens of micro-roasters and cafes.

The Mark Spencer Hotel, located within the Pearl District of dowtown, gives a close proximity to an abundance of activities and food choices that Portland has to offer.
