PL work
Adam has taught Personal Leadership in multiple college level leadership development and service-learning courses to prepare and support college students for leadership roles such as student government, multicultural student services, international ambassadors, and college access youth mentoring. In addition, Adam has led Personal Leadership workshops and seminars for higher education professionals and students working in a variety of contexts at multiple organizational levels.
As a new PhD student Adam is exploring opportunities to develop PL work anew.
Other work
Adam is exploring and developing doctoral research ideas with connections among Personal Leadership, culturally responsive teaching and learning, experiential learning, healthy masculinity development, and non-cognitive skill development.
Personal background
Born and raised in Oregon, Adam studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain. He has extensive international travel experience and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Adam has recently relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.
Academic
Adam holds a BA in International Studies and Spanish from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He has an MA in Educational Leadership and Policy from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. He has also earned graduate certificates in Service-Learning and Civic Engagement in Higher Education, and Student Affairs in Higher Education from Portland State University. He is currently a PhD student in the Language, Literacy, and Culture program at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
Other interests
Adam and his partner are enjoying the process of getting to know Baltimore and the east coast after living on the west coast their entire lives. He also finds time for yoga classes and outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking.
